  • After several months of brainstorming, came up with alternative transport services for employees
  • Provided the action plan to the management
  • Had several rounds of discussions/meetings with all the stakeholders
  • Had several meetings with BMTC management and officials
  • Created the required infrastructure for BMTC buses boarding and deboarding
  • Created amenities for BMTC staff (Parking, Rest Rooms, water, tea/coffee, subsidised lunch)
  • Subsidised Breakfast and lunch for drivers and conductors
  • Formally launched the Public Transport Services

Results/Outcome

  • Started the full-fledged Public Transport Services (BMTC)
  • Quality of buses ensuring a comfortable ride
  • Varied varieties of buses to meet each one’s requirements  (Volvo, BIG10, Jn Nurm, Suvarna and Pushpak)
  • Flexibility to employees
  • Increased route coverage
  • De-congestion of traffic (2 wheeler and 4 wheeler users switched over to BMTC services)
  • Parking issue got completely eliminated
  • Cost-effective transport services (A/c, Luxury, Semi Luxury and ordinary buses) based on ones capability to spend
  • Increased Employee C-Sat
  • Reduced attrition
  • Several million of kms got saved
  • Several lakhs of fuel saved

Note: Though this initiative was implemented in one of the major IT companies, people across this township and neighboring villages where there was no public transport services started using this facility.   More than 70,000 people were using this services in 2014).    This has also resulted as one of the CSR initiatives which this company is known for among many other CSR initiatives….
